Contagiou$ is a New Spark in the HipHop Community
We sat down with singer/performer Contagiou$ to discuss his life and details about his creative process.
What inspired you to start making music?
I always listened to music my mom would play. It would be funky disco music but I always loved the vocalists on the songs.
It sparked my interest and creative journey into the music!
I loved sounds of all types, I love the expression and creative process from start to finish. It truly inspires me.
Describe your creative process when you write new music?
It changes as I evolve as a man. Sometimes a melody and pitch will just come out quick and the song makes itself in a couple hours.
Other times it’s a grind to really get the sound I’m looking for. I go through a lot of emotions and back track on a lot of things that I went through or I am going through to be able to express myself the best way possible and also make it as relatable as I can.
I often times take inspiration from the fans to make sure that everything I am doing is something that I know they will love and appreciate. Keep it consistent but also experiment with new vocals and sounds as I go.
What’s your process for dealing with performance anxiety?
I feel calm before shows mostly. I will drink tea and focus my thoughts to remind myself of how grateful I am to be in a position to provide my art with eager listeners.
I keep to myself until it’s time to show out. I will also pray, that’s one of the biggest things I do, because without God, I am nothing. I also do a lot of warm ups for my vocal range to hit those notes.
What’s the best piece of advice another artist/performer has given you?
To simply never be afraid of the road. Stay on track with deadlines and goals.
Do whatever needs to be done to get there. Never take no for an answer, and no matter how many times you fall, get back up and keep going at it!
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
Delivering a great melody and bringing out emotions!
My goal is to have my music touch hearts and minds everywhere. I love the expression the most, and the feeling of being able to relate the harmonies.
I love the writing process that goes with creating a master piece!
When can we expect your latest release?
I currently have a project I’m finishing up.. I am eyeing a 2023 1st quarter drop!
I put my heart and soul into my music and I know the fans will really appreciate whats to come.
