Taylor Hall shares poignant new EP, ‘Happy That it Happened’

Indianapolis-based artist Taylor Hall has shared a new EP called Happy That it Happened. An engagingly written, versatile set of 6 songs that draws from a variety of genres including hip-hop, R&B, pop-punk, and more, Happy That it Happened makes for a dynamic listen that keeps the listener on their toes throughout, while also remaining infectious and catchy. Her skills as a songwriter are on full display, as she weaves together heartfelt, wistful melodies with ease, with a soaring vocal range that simply mesmerizes. Moreover, the project’s production is atmospheric and memorable, laced with elegant guitars, crisp, grooving percussion, and rich bass. A diverse EP, Happy That it Happened includes songs drawing from R&B like “Taking Notes” and “Lonely Again”, as well as the hip-hop-tinged “Lonely Again” and post-punk-influenced “Shattered”. Our favorite is the last song, “Tried”, which includes powerful instrumentation that builds dynamically beneath Hall’s smooth, soulful vocal performance, making for a dazzling closer.

An audible love story that runs deep through a series of emotions, Happy That it Happened is a relatable, sharply written EP that belongs in any listener’s rotation.
