Exclusive Interview With New Hip Hop Siren Iamtheblackdiamond Also Famously Known As The Black Diamond
I got a chance to sit down and talk to the beauty behind the bars, Black Diamond for an Exclusive Interview. Black Diamond is a multi-talented mega star from Tennessee. She has battled through many obstacles in life but one thing she never did was give up on her dreams. Her music is impeccably composed and her southern twang ignites every track she touches. Let’s get to know more about Black Diamond, here’s our exclusive interview:
What’s one of your favorite songs you’ve ever written?
It’s called “I Need You”. That’s my pain song, it touches my soul. It was produced by Mike Steel
What’s something about you people don’t know?
I used to be a Walmart booster, we would travel city to city walking out of 4-5 stores a day with high value merchandise. My quota was 500 -1k per store.
Are you a stripper?
I never was a “stripper” I was a pandemic dancer. We were the ones who never danced before but heard we could make some easy money by just twerking in the club. I never got nude. Once the ppp money left the clubs, I left too.
How was your life growing up?
My mother was on drugs really bad so my grandma raised me. I was teased a lot as a kid. I was quiet in school and kinda nerdy. I was never one of the popular kids.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to overcome?
Losing my best friend and number 1 fan, my ex girlfriend Robin. She was killed a couple months ago. We started my career together a long time ago, she was the only person to ever invest in me and my dreams. I had dreams of us being at the Grammys together but God saw otherwise. I’ll always love her.
Do you prefer men or women?
I’ve never met a man that knows how to treat me. I’ve always been spoiled by women, they go above and beyond. I’m still trying to have faith that one day I’ll meet a guy that’s compatible with me but I’m starting to think that will never happen. I’m in between right now.
What was it like going viral the first time?
Crazy! I had 20k people commenting ona post saying I’m retarded and needed help. I had friends talking about me behind my back calling me stupid and embarrassing and a disgrace. But the beauty that came out of it was priceless, I found out who was really for me and who wasn’t.
Do you have an ex you would take back?
Hell no, f•ck all of them. They didn’t value me when they had the chance ain’t no coming back.
How did you get started rapping?
I had been rapping for awhile but I stopped and once I met Robin we shared that we both loved music. She wanted to be a female P Diddy and I wanted to be Lil Kim. She had a friend who had a studio, his name was Ken “Mr Westside Himself” so she set up some studio time with him to record me. We didn’t have much money so Robin paid for my studio time with food stamps. Once we finished all the songs me & Robin dropped my first mixtape and we kept going from there.
If there was one piece of advice you could give to someone else what would it be?
Never give up on you no matter what it is, follow your dream. Be patient and build it, the people will eventually come.
